Hoodlums have intercepted five 18-seater buses loaded with travellers at the Gada-biyu area of Jos-Zaria road in Jos-North local government area of Plateau State.

According to reports, the attack, which occurred at 10 am on Saturday, left at least 22 people dead and many others injured.
It was gathered that the travellers were ambushed while coming back from an Islamic New Year prayers, organised by a renowned cleric, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, in Bauchi State.

Witnesses said the travellers, numbering about 80, ran helter-skelter into the bush as the attackers descended on them.

According to reports 22 dead bodies, were deposited at the Plateau Specialist Hospital.
There has been no official confirmation by the authorities as at the tune of filing this report.
