Insecurity: ‘Rejig security now’, Zamfara indigenes to FG

A prominent Zamfara indigene and political heavyweight, Mohammed Bello Soja Bakyasua Maradun, has appealed to President Buhari’s administrator to not only immediately sack the present Service Chiefs but also restructure the entire security architecture of the country for greater efficiency.

Commenting on the state of insecurity in the region, a prominent Zamfara indigene, Mohammed Bello Maradun who spoke to Voice of Liberty, stated that considering the latest worrisome development, the President must take immediate action against those entrusted with the security of our nation by sacking the Service Chiefs.

Bello Maradun, who opined that he was voicing out the grievances of the people of the state insisted that the President should have since listened to the appeals in many quarters on the need to sack the Service Chiefs, rejig the security structure and inject fresh hands in order to stop needless killings in the country.

He said that although he, as well as other Zamfara indigenes had initially been commending them all the time, however it has become glaring that there are noticeable problems in the security architecture in the state which has resulted in spike in attacks in the state lately.

Recall that suspected armed bandits on Friday night attacked Dankurmi Village in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing one person and kidnapping at least 15 others and many villagers were also injured in the operation that lasted for several hours. Many cattle were also taken away by the gunmen.

Mohammed Bello Soja lamented on the lack of synergy among the security agencies, stressing that there was no prompt and effective intervention from any security operative in the area and queried: “For how long will this continue? All the service chiefs must be sacked because they have failed olive up to the expectation of the public.

“We know that in a matter of days, we may begin to get some cosmetic responses from our security forces justifying the raid or giving excuses for their failure, but the obvious fact is that our security chiefs are not on top of their game and need to go home.”

He appealed to those in authority to as a matter of urgency replace the Security Chiefs if there is to be an end to the state of insecurity in the region and the nation at large.
