Insecurity: “Negotiate with terrorists, bandits; they need schools, hospitals” – Sheikh Gumi tells FG

Controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has called on the President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government to negotiate with terrorists.

Speaking during a television programme yesterday, Gumi said the Government should build schools, markets and hospitals for bandits.

The Islamic cleric said Tinubu’s government should allow bandits have a future, rather than continuing to spend billions of Naira to combat banditry and terrorism.

According to Gumi: “Negotiate with these people. Build schools, markets and hospitals for them. Let them have future.

“Even the people we call bandits, what they sometimes complain of is that they no longer have cattle markets; because whenever they establish any market, it gets destroyed.

“So, the military should be out of this picture completely. We are not fighting a foreign country. We should develop our internal security”, he stated.
