Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, has decried the abduction of school children in the northern part of the country, noting that it is worsening the poor state of education in the region.

Speaking to newsmen at the weekend, during the First Solo Exhibition of Paintings and Photographs by the son to Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe, Stephen Binos, in Adamawa, Lawan said that insecurity is a national challenge which requires all hands to be on deck.
According to him, This is a situation that needs all hands on deck regardless of what you believe in. We all need to survive first before we achieve any excellence and I believe we can do so well.
Senator Lawan also bemoaned that the insecurity is affecting efforts to address poor education levels in the North.
He, however, expressed optimism that the government was committed to bringing a lasting solution to the situation and urged for joint efforts by all tiers of government, and ethnic groups to tackle the situation.
Speaking on the exhibition, Lawan pointed out that efforts must be made by leaders in the country to encourage productivity amongst youths to enable them to contribute meaningfully to national development.
He asserted that the artworks exhibited depict the culture of the people of Adamawa State.
This is as he charged the countrys youths to ensure the preservation of the countrys diverse cultural heritage through expressive means, adding that doing so would in turn preserve its traditional values against extinction from the overwhelming external influence of technology.
He further noted that this is the kind of thing we need to encourage our youths. If someone chooses to go this path, he should be encouraged to continue to excel and do well”.
And whichever way we can encourage our youths in this country, to be productive, to be focused and contribute to national development.
