President Bola Tinubu, in his Independence Day broadcast yesterday, declared that Nigeria is on a path of renewal — with peace returning to liberated communities in the North-East and North-West regions, and a fresh call for Nigerians to farm, build, and produce their way out of hardship.

Marking the nation’s 65th Independence anniversary, Tinubu hailed the armed forces for their “blood and sweat” in defeating terrorism, banditry, and violent crimes. “Peace has returned to hundreds of our liberated communities… thousands of our people are safely back home”, he said, saluting their courage on behalf of a “grateful nation”.

However, the President said security gains must be matched with economic grit. “Let us farm our land and build factories to process our produce. Let us patronise Made-in-Nigeria goods. I say Nigeria first”, he declared.

Acknowledging the pains of subsidy removal and rising inflation, Tinubu insisted the alternative would have been “economic chaos or bankruptcy”.

He pledged that saved resources would be channelled into food security, education, power, and community safety.

“Today, my message is hope and a call to action. With Almighty God on our side, the dawn of a new, prosperous, self-reliant Nigeria is here”, the President stated.
