The Independent Broadcasting Association of Nigeria, (IBAN), conferred the 1st ‘IBAN Pioneers Award’ posthumously on the Founder owner of Nigeria’s First Private Radio Station; Raypower FM, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi, in recognition of his immense contributions to private broadcasting in Nigeria and the Nigerian broadcast media industry in general.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, who presented the award to his Son; Dr Raymond Dokpesi Jr at the 2nd AGM/CONFAB and broadcaster’s’ conference of the Independent Broadcasting Association of Nigeria (IBAN), which was held at DAAR Communications Plc Headquarters, Abuja, commended Late Chief Dokpesi’s distinct foresight and indefatigable broadcast strides.
Receiving the award on behalf of his Late Father, the Executive Chairman DAAR Communications Plc., Raymond Jr., expressed gratitude to IBAN, and assured that he would continue to support the Independent broadcast industry.
The conference was presided over by Alhaji (Dr) Ahmed Tijjani Ramalan, Chairman, Independent Broadcasting Association of Nigeria (IBAN), and was attended by several Ministries, Departments, Agencies, (MDAs), Regulators, local and foreign media houses, as well as stakeholders & collaborators.
