- MURIC warns against further protest

Some well-meaning Nigerians, under the aegis of March4Nigeria, say some purported #EndSARS protesters are mobilising hoodlums to wreak havoc in the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT), and Lagos.
Speaking at a press conference yesterday in Lagos, National Secretary, Comrade Onimisi Bello said funds for the exercise has already been laundered online using crypto-currencies.
According to the group, these extremist elements will re-launch violent uprisings under the guise that their members are being hounded.
The March4Nigeria, however, condemned the move to incite Nigerians back to the streets, as it could jeopardize the Federal Government’s proposed police reform, while calling on parents to guide their children against being used as agents of destruction, the group urged security agencies to use all necessary force to protect the law-abiding citizens.
Similarly, the group, Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) have also warned Nigerians especially the Muslim faithful against any new protest.
This was contained in a statement released yesterday in Lagos by the MURIC Director, Prof. Is’haq Akintola. Is’haq said that he expected the protests to abate the moment government accepted all the five demands made by the protesters but expressed regret that that did not happen.
According to the MURIC Director, the Qur’an commands Muslim faithful to join hands in righteous deeds, not for aggression and destruction, and therefore, advised Muslim faithful and, indeed every right thinking Nigerian, to stay away from any meaningless strike.
Meanwhile, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu has disclosed that those who promote the #EndSARS protest and allow it degenerate into chaos must be made to face the law.
This disclosure was made by the presidential spokesman when he featured on a television programme on Sunday.
He added that the country had been seriously harmed by the #EndSARS protests and culprits must be made to face the consequences.
