Elder statesman, Alhaji Aminu Ɗantata, has donated N1.5 billion to victims of Maiduguri flood disaster in Borno State.

Ɗantata donated the money yesterday when he visited the State governor Babagana Zulum at the Government House, Maiduguri, the State capital. He expressed sympathy with the state government and victims of the disaster.

Ɗantata, 96, lamented the downturn in the country’s economy’s fortune, pleading with the political elites to fear Allah. In addition, he prayed for unity and peace in both Borno State and Nigeria as a whole.

In response, Governor Zulum conveyed his appreciation to the Elder Statesman for his kind gesture, saying it acts as a strong symbol of hope and support in these difficult times. “The people of Borno deeply appreciate this show of humanity by a 96-year-old to visit us. May Allah bless and reward you with Aljannah. Mun gode, Baba”, he stated.

The donation comes less than 24 hours after Aliko Ɗangote, Ɗantata’s nephew, donated N1 billion to flood victims.

Also speaking, Abdullahi Sule, governor of Nasarawa, announced the donation of an unspecified number of trucks of relief materials to support the Borno State government.

Earlier, a member of the House of Representatives, Muktar Betara, donated N100 million to victims of the flood disaster.
