Mohammed Bello el-Rufa’i, a member of the 10th House of Representatives representing Kaduna-North federal constituency and son of embattled former governor Nasir el-Rufa’i, has announced his defection from the All Progressives Congress, (APC) to the African Democratic Congress, (ADC).

El-Rufa’i, who is also the Chairman of House Committee on Banking Regulations announced his defection on his social media handles yesterday.

The lawmaker, in the post, announced that he submitted his letter of resignation which was read at the plenary by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas to signal his formal defection from APC to ADC. “I am now a member of the ADC; and I will be seeking re‑election to continue representing the good people of Kaduna-North Federal Constituency on this platform”, el-Rufa’i stated.

He added that he defected to the ADC alongside two other Kaduna lawmakers – Suleiman Richifa, representing Soba federal constituency and Hon. Umar Ajilo, representing Makarfi/Kudan federal constituency.

“This decision was not taken lightly. As a proud son of Malam Nasir, I am guided by courage, conviction, and the unshakable belief that our people deserve the very best. To the people of Kaduna-North: our work continues, and it will not stop. We will never compromise on delivering quality representation. There is still so much to do”, he stated.
