Eid-il-Fitr: Sultan enjoins Nigerians to elect quality leaders

As Muslims celebrate the 2022 Eid-il-Fitr festival, the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, (NSCIA), His Eminence Muhammad Saad Abubakar III, has enjoined Nigerians to love one another and elect quality leaders in the forthcoming general elections, expressing serious concern about the skyrocketing prices of food and consumables in the country.

In his Sallah message, the Sultan urged Muslims to pray for peace and the countrys stability. In the message by the Director of Administration, NSCIA, Arc. Zubairu Haruna Usman-Ugwu, the Sultan appealed to the government to stem the tide of inflation, while urging traders to desist from arbitrarily increasing the price of food items.

He also appealed to politicians to consider politics as a service to the nation, which should not be pursued as a do-or-die affair.

The Sultan urged Muslims to exercise their rights to contest for elective positions and participate actively in the electoral process by not only obtaining their Permanent Voters Cards, (PVCs), but also casting their votes on the days of elections.

He also called on security agencies to up their game in order to address the dangerous security situation in the country.

Similarly, the Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria, (MMPN), felicitated with Muslims on the successful completion of the 30-day Ramadan fast in 2022, urging them to let the lessons learned during the period continue to reflect on them.

Its National President, MMPN, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, in his Sallah message, said the lessons of self-restraint, sacrifice, charity, fear of Allah, devotion and love of mankind imbibed during the period must continue all year round.

He appealed to all stakeholders to play the political game with the fear of Allah and be fair to all, with the hope that all shall give an account of their deeds on the day of reckoning.

Noting that prayer is the sword of believers, Balogun urged Muslims to continue to pray fervently to Allah, for peace, security and well-being of Nigerians and the country as against cursing the leaders.
