The durbar was conducted after the Emir led the Eid prayer and sermon at the  ?ofar-Mata Jumuat mosque due to heavy rain that made it impossible to use the premises of the Eid ground.

Following the Eid prayer and sermon, the Emir embarked on the durbar, riding a horse through Wambai, Zage, ‘Yan Damadan, Shahuci, and back to the palace. Unlike previous years, this time the Emir was the only one on horseback, with district heads either on foot, or in vehicles.

The State Governor, Abba Kabir-Yusuf, along with other cabinet members, were part of the dignitaries who observed the Eid prayer with the Emir, while a combined team of security forces were on hand to provide security.

Despite the Police Commands ban on Sallah durbar activities, as reiterated in a recent joint security meeting, the event proceeded under the Governors watch.

In contrast, the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, observed his Eid prayer at the Nassarawa mini palace and had announced the cancellation of durbar activities during the Eid-el-Kabir festivities.

Recall that the Kano State Police Command had earlier banned Sallah durbar after a joint security meeting in the State. However, Governor Yusuf disagreed with the position of the Police on the durbar, saying he wasnt carried along before such a decision was taken.

The Kano State Government, on Saturday, expressed concern over how the Police Command in the State has been disobeying the legitimate instructions of Governor Abba Yusuf, the Chief Security Officer of the State.
