Eid el-Fitr: FG declares Friday Monday as public holidays

The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 21 and Monday, April 24, 2023 as Public Holidays to mark this year’s Eid el-Fitr.

According to a statement by the Permanent Secretary, Dr Shu’aib Belgore, released yesterday, the Minister of Interior, Ra’uf Aregbesola, made the declaration yesterday, on behalf of the Federal Government.

Eid-el-Fitr marks the end to the month long Ramadan fast, and the commencement of Shawaal, the 10th month of the Islamic lunar calendar.

Aregbesola congratulated all Muslims faithful for the completion of the holy month of Ramadan.

The minister urged all Muslims to imbibe and practice the virtues of kindness, love, tolerance, peace, self-denial, sacrifice and good neighbourliness, as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon Him), and wished all Muslims a happy Eid el-Fitr celebration.
