Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), in Zamfara State have rescued the four remaining students kidnapped from the Federal Polytechnic, Ƙauran-Namoda.
According to the DSS, the rescue was carried out late Wednesday through an intelligence-led operation, and that no ransom was paid. It said one of the abductors was arrested during the raid, but that the others did not survive.
Recall that the students – 4 males and one female – were abducted on June 3 from their off-campus hostel in the Low-cost area of Ƙauran-Namoda town, after bandits stormed the building and took six of them.
Two of the six had earlier been released. Following that, security forces intensified surveillance and tracking, leading to the safe recovery of the remaining four.
The operation comes days after DSS operatives in Zamfara also rescued a professor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
The rescued students have been reunited with their families, bringing the ordeal to a close and easing tension in the Ƙauran-Namoda community.
