The decomposing remains of missing Fulani leader, Umar Ibrahim, has been found in an abandoned well at Jokom community of Mangu town in Mangu Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State.
The deceased who holds the title of Ciroman Kumbun District of Mangu LGA of Platesu State went missing on Wednesday 23 November, 2023 after visiting his ailing wife at the hospital.
Spokesperson of Operation Safe Haven, the joint security taskforce maintaining peace in Plateau and Southern Kaduna Captain Oya James, confirmed the incident.
Also speaking Garba Abdullahi, the Gan Allah Fulani Development Association (GAFDAN) a social political group said the deceased went missing after leaving hospital on the said Wednesday to buy food for his sick wife, who was on admission in the hospital.
Garba Abdullahi who is the state chairman of the group said the deceased “visited his wife at the sickbay in Mangu. Around 6pm of Wednesday, he went out to buy food for her but couldn’t not return. After searching for four days , the body was found in an abandoned Well close to the hospital. The corpse was recovered together with soldiers attached to Operation Safe Haven who have been maintaining peace in area.
“We are calling on all our members to remain calm and never take laws into their hands. We should continue to be law abiding. The security agencies are doing their best. We are calling on the security to fish out the perpetrators of the dastardly act and bring them to book”.
It would be recalled that the General Officer Commanding GOC and Commander Operation Save Haven, Major General Abubakar Abdulsalam had recently warned at a meeting that the security operatives in the state would not tolerate any more killings and crisis as they are being stressed beyond measures.
