‘Declaration made under duress’: INEC removes Doguwa’s name from Reps-elect list amid murder allegations

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has removed the name of Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, from the list of elected House members.

Doguwa’s was missing on the list of elected members released by INEC on Monday.

INEC remarked on the election result of Doguwa was “declaration made under duress.”

The Commission had earlier announced Doguwa, a member of the All Progressives Congress, as the winner of the February 25 election in the Doguwa/Tudun-Wada constituency.

He polled 39,732 votes to defeat the candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Yusha’u Salisu Abdullahi, who polled 34,798 votes.

But Doguwa was subsequently arrested for his alleged involvement in the killing of several persons and burning of the Secretariat of New Nigeria People’s Party, (NNPP), in the just-concluded general election.

Recall that yesterday, he was remanded in prison custody by a chief magistrates’ court in Kano.
