A civil Society organisation (CSO), the Oil Spill Victims Initiative, (OSPIVV), has threatened to sue the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, (NNPCL), and Shell Petroleum Development Company, (SPDC), over the illegal pipeline connections used to siphon the country’s crude oil.

The CSO revealed that the illegal pipeline connected to the trunk line through an abandoned pipeline by the Nigerians Agip Oil Company Limited (NAOCL), and linked to a location in the high sea, where they load crude oil into vessels and sell overseas.

Recall that an illegal pipeline connected to 48-inch Trans Forcados Export Trunk line was discovered by a surveillance company operated by ex-militant leader Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, in Burutu local government area of Delta State.
Speaking to newsmen on Saturday, an executive director of OSPIVV, Prince Harrison Jalla, revealed that the group is already getting ready to take the matter to court.
In another report, Mele Kyari, the Group Managing Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC), promised that the Port Harcourt refinery would be ready soon. He made the promise before the House of Representatives on the resumption of investigation on the state of the country’s refineries. When asked, Kyari, represented by the General Manager, Refineries & Petrochemicals, Mustapha Yakubu, re-affirmed to the lawmakers the expected completion date.
