Tinubu reshuffles leadership at UniAbuja, UNN, other federal universities

World Bank allocates $1.2bn for girls’ education in Nigeria

The World Bank has announced that it has earmarked $1.2 billion for investment in girls’ education across 18 States. The States include: Borno, Ekiti, Kebbi, Kaduna, Plateau, Katsina, Kano, Adamawa, Kogi, Nasarawa, Niger, Bauchi, Jigawa, Yobe, Kwara, Gombe, Sokoto and Zamfara. The United Nations Children Fund, (UNICEF), has said Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (2021) showed that there are currently about 10.2 million primary school children who are out of school in Nigeria. The Federal Government has approved the establishment of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Polytechnic, Gwarimpa, a district of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The Federal Government has renamed the University of Abuja, which is now to be known as Yakubu Gowon University. Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, revealed the decision to journalists at the State House on Monday, following a Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu.
