…Sowore also allegedly arrested

…Trial postponed

Some suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, (IPOB), were arrested by the Police on Monday as they converged on the Federal High Court in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT), for their leaders, Nnamdi Kanu’s trial.

According to reports, some of them wore Jewish apparel and were chanting slogans in support of Kanu and demanding his freedom.

There was a commotion as the Police tried to disperse members of the group. Some of them were subsequently arrested while others fled.

The Police have also reportedly arrested a former presidential candidate and founder of online news platform, Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore at the court premises.

Sowore tweeted, at about 11:09 am, that he was “just arrested by @PoliceNG at the Federal High Court in Abuja!”

Kanu’s trial is scheduled to continue today after he was arrested and extradited to Nigeria in June.

He was re-arraigned and remanded in the custody of the Department of State Services, (DSS), upon his extradition to Nigeria.

The IPOB leader is facing charges of a treasonable felony for his agitation for the independent Republic of Biafra.

Meanwhile, the trial has reportedly been postponed.
