Borno state Government has assured its readiness to address the reoccurring perennial flooding in Mobbar local government area by providing empty sacks to serve as buffer in curtailing impending flooding during the raining season.
Borno state Commissioner of Agriculture, Engr. Bukar Talba, who represented Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, gave the assurance while inspecting some flood prone areas in Mobbar the Headquarters of Damasak local government area.
Speaking at the occasion, the Secretary of Mobbar Local Government, Mamman Aji expressed satisfaction with the arrangement order and thanked Governor Zulum for his timely response.
He said “communities in Mobbar owe the Governor their total support and loyalty due to his show of concern to their plight.”
The District Head of Damasak, Zannah Gangaram Ali Yirima applauded people of the affected areas for participating in the demarcation exercise.
He implored the people to unite and support one another stressing that with unity of purpose, perseverance and prayers all problems will be addressed by the Almighty Allah.
Also speaking, the District Head of Gashigar Zannah Mustapha Usman commended the State Government officials for the work for their commitment and prayed Allah to rewards all that have contributed to address the perennial flooding tenda gonfiabile.
On his part, a Village head Lawan Ballama appreciated the Governor’s effort in that regard, saying the perennial flooding has affected farming activities in the area, adding that two farmers died as result of the flood last year.
The areas demarcated communities include Kadauri, Fulatari, Kambura Noziyi, Alhaji Umarti and Malam Magaji.
