Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON), the organisers of The Nigerian Broadcasting Awards (TNBA), have stated that the awards process and ceremony will be a huge brand exposure platform.

Speaking during a television programme yesterday, TNBA Lead Consultant and CEO, Strategic Outcomes Ltd, Jenkins Alumona, said TNBA would provide sponsors with optimal exposure and credible affiliation.
According to him, the awards night would be a spectacle of entertainment and celebration of broadcasting excellence, which will be broadcast live on over 300 BON member stations.
Its a huge opportunity for people who want to drive brand awareness to be part of it. BON will put up an event that meets the quality expected from Nigerian broadcasting. We are planning a show like the Oscars. You will be seeing superstars and high-quality professionals being rewarded, he said.
Explaining the criteria for entry, the Chairman of the Awards Steering Committee, Guy Murray-Bruce, stressed that TNBAs are only open to regulated broadcast platforms.

He equally announced that the awards, for which BON members are eligible, will have 13 categories.
These include: ‘Radio Station/ Best Television Station of the Year’; ‘Best Radio Station/ Best Television- News in English’; ‘Best Radio Station/ Best Television Station-Indigenous Language; ‘Best Radio/ Best Television Station- Original Production in English’,
and ‘Best Radio / Best Television Station-Original Production in Indigenous Language’.
They also include awards for ‘Best Radio Best Television Station in Documentary/ Feature in English; ‘Best Radio/Best Television Station-Documentary/ Feature in Indigenous Language”; ‘Best Radio/Best Television Show in English and Best Radio/Best Television Show in Indigenous Language’.
Others are ‘Newscaster of the Year- Radio/ Television’; ‘Reporter of the Year -Radio/Television; ‘Presenter of the Year Radio/Television and Special Contributions to the Broadcast Industry’.
Murray-Bruce, Chairman of the Awards Steering Committee, expressed hope that the awards will spur broadcast media professionals to greater standards of practice.
BON is the umbrella body of all private, public, commercial and community electronic media organisations in the country and has over 300 broadcast platforms as members.
