Suspected Boko Haram insurgents on Wednesday evening attacked the convoy of Borno Governor Babagana Zulum.

The insurgents attacked the convoy of Zulum at Baga town, according security sources.

A source said the governor’s convoy came under attack while returning from a deserted fishing community in Kaka local government area where he had gone to personally oversee the distribution of palliatives to internally displaced persons in some local governments.

Multiple sources said the governor was unhurt as soldiers and Police officers guarding him repelled the assault on the convoy.

The governor’s spokesperson, Isa Gusau, confirmed the development, and said he was working on a press statement on the matter.
