“Ask Tinubu & APC if they waited till 2015, whereas we protested in 2012” – Sowore

Former AAC presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, responded to Tinubu’s criticism of NLC’s strike timing, highlighting #Occupy Nigeria protest in 2012 and questioning APC’s quick formation before 2015 elections.

It’s widely acknowledged that Tinubu recently expressed dissatisfaction with the ongoing NLC strike, deeming it inappropriate to initiate such action within the first nine months of an administration. He proposed that the union should consider waiting until the 2027 general election if they wish to engage in the electoral process.

However, during an interview on a television programme, Sowore referred to historical events, citing the #Occupy Nigeria protest in 2012, in which Tinubu and his associates participated against then-President Jonathan’s administration within the first year. Sowore also questioned whether the APC waited until 2015 before forming a political party to seize power from the PDP.

He remarked, “Ask him and his colleagues in APC if they waited till 2015 when we protested that we occupied Nigeria in 2012. Jonathan was barely in office for 1 year when that was done.

“Did APC, which was formed around 2013, did they wait till 2015 before they formed a new political party to take over power? I don’t know who is advising them; I don’t know who their speech writers are; but apparently, these guys are living in la la land”.
