President Bola Tinubu yesterday arrived in Birnin-Kebbi, the state capital for a one-day official visit to formally declare open the 61st edition of the 2026 Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival as Special Guest of Honour.
The President touched down at the Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport, where he was received by Governor Nasir Idris, senior government officials and other dignitaries.
Bola Tinubu inaugurated the state secretariat, and also commissioned an ultra-modern motor park in Birnin-Kebbi, and proceeded to the fishing arena.
Dignitaries, including the Governor of Sokoto State and other state governors, are in attendance and are expected to accompany the President for the official commencement of the festival.
Meanwhile, the fishing arena was filled with enthusiastic spectators, as well as foreign journalists from China, India, and several West African media organisations.
