The Muslim Rights Concern, (MURIC), has berated the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for remaining silent more than 72 hours after the appointment of five Christians and two Muslims as Service Chiefs by a Muslim president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
This was contained in a statement issued yesterday by MURIC’s Executive Director, Professor Is’haq Akintola.
According to MURIC, the appointments made so far by President Tinubu are lopsided because they favour mainly Yorubas and Christians.
The group argued that the Nigerian media as well as cyberspace would have been awash with protests from CAN had it been the other way round.
Apparently referring to former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufa’i, Prof. Akintola said that to add salt to injury, one of the best Muslim ministerial nominees, the man who championed the Muslim-Muslim ticket and mobilised the whole North behind Asiwaju has been jettisoned.
Prof. Akintola advised the president to ensure balance in coming appointments.
