In a united show of political support, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

The endorsement came during the APC National Summit held at the Presidential Villa’s Banquet Hall in Abuja, under the theme: “Renewed Hope Agenda: The Journey So Far.”

The decision received unanimous backing from key party stakeholders, including APC governors, the National Assembly leadership, and the party’s National Working Committee, (NWC).

Imo State Governor and Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodimma, led the charge by moving a resolution endorsing President Tinubu for a second term. The Motion, seconded by Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, was unanimously adopted by all governors present.

“For Nigeria to progress rapidly, we must re-use our current leader and consider him as our candidate for the 2027 presidential election,” Uzodimma said. “With humility and gratitude to God Almighty, I move this resolution that this convention endorses President Tinubu as our 2027 candidate, and that APC governors take responsibility for ensuring this vision is realized in their respective States”.

He added that APC governors are directed to promote federal policies in their states, dominate their constituencies politically, and ensure the party’s victory in all 2027 elections.

In his remarks, APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, echoed the governors’ support, urging members to remain united and focused on delivering progress. Confirming Tinubu’s endorsement, he said: “Let us rally behind President Bola Tinubu, support our policies, and deliver the Renewed Hope Nigerians rightfully deserve”.

Describing the APC as “a movement of courage and conviction,” Ganduje emphasized that the party had been reformed and revitalized under Tinubu’s leadership, crediting him with major accomplishments over the past two years.

In a similar development, the leadership of the 10th National Assembly, represented by Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, also threw their weight behind Tinubu’s candidacy.

“In view of the political sagacity of President Tinubu and his success in navigating Nigeria through economic and political challenges, I move that he be adopted as the sole presidential candidate of our great party,” said Akpabio. Speaker Abbas promptly seconded the motion, marking a rare consensus across all arms of the party’s leadership.

Akpabio further remarked that Tinubu’s reform-driven governance had left the opposition in disarray and that Nigerians, particularly at the grassroots, were eager to see him return for a second term.

Although President Tinubu has yet to publicly declare his intention to seek re-election, the party’s unified stance signals growing momentum for a second-term bid.
