Soludo re elected

Dances to popular gospel song after landslide win

The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), has declared Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) winner of the November 8 Anambra governorship election, securing a second term in office.

Announcing the results in Awka yesterday, the Returning Officer and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. Edoba Omoregie, said Soludo garnered 422,664 votes to defeat his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 99,445 votes.

Other candidates trailed behind, including Paul Chukwuma (YPP) with 37,753 votes, George Moghalu (LP) with 10,576 votes, John Nwosu (ADC) with 8,208 votes, and Jude Ezenwafor (PDP) with 1,401 votes.

Moments after the declaration, an elated Soludo was seen in a viral video jubilating and singing the popular gospel song “This kind God oo! I never see His type oo!” while speaking on the phone with an unidentified caller.

The re-election marks a reaffirmation of APGA’s long-standing dominance in Anambra politics, with observers noting a spirited contest that drew nationwide attention and strong voter engagement despite lingering concerns over electoral transparency.
