The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has sharply criticised President Bola Tinubu for attending a fishing festival while terror activities spread, with about 1,300 Nigerians reportedly killed in 41 days and hundreds of others still in captivity, including nursing mothers and children.

The party’s criticism was contained in a statement issued yesterday, signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi.

The party said the President got his priorities wrong, indicating a frightening loss of touch with reality when he chose to attend a festival while funeral processions grow longer across the country as terrorists kill, burn, and abduct citizens under his watch.

The party also expressed grave concern over a video allegedly linked to the Kaiama abductions in Kwara State, in which insurgents were seen openly challenging official figures on the number of victims in what the ADC described as a brazen attempt to seize control of the insecurity narrative.

The ADC warned that the growing boldness of armed groups, particularly within the Kwara corridor, indicates that the government may be losing control of a strategic part of the country that could provide terrorists a foothold into other parts of the country.
