Eghaegbemi made the appeal yesterday, shortly after casting his vote at the Unit 5, Ward 6, Ikoya Igbinsin-Oloto, in Okitipupa local government area of Ondo State.

The nonagenarian said that the present economic hardship was affecting the elderly, and appealed to the Government to institute measures to cushion the effects of hunger, adding that he came out to exercise his franchise in order to enjoy good governance and more dividends of democracy.

He said, I came out to vote to exercise my franchise, as a bonafide citizen of Nigeria; to elect good leaders and engender good governance and enjoy dividends of democracy. There is hardship and hunger in the land; its affecting the elderly ones too, so we plead with the Government to intervene and cushion the effects of hardship and hunger on poor masses.

He prayed that God would enthrone the Government that would have the masses at heart at the end of the on-going election.
