…Says Tinubu faces Obi, Atiku
Senator representing Borno-South constituency, Ali Ndume, has broken ranks with the APC’s public optimism, admitting that the 2027 presidential race will be “a tough fight” while accusing President Bola Tinubu’s inner circle of failing to tell him “the fact—the truth” about the looming opposition threat.
Speaking on television yestrday, Ndume responded to the host’s warning that “the storm is coming. Atiku is coming, Peter Obi is coming, Seyi Makinde is coming” and that 2027 could see “APC packing from the Villa.”
“I’m not that worried, but at the same time, I don’t take opponents for granted,” Ndume said. “I’ve said this several times… that is the mistake many of us are making, especially those that are around Mr. President, having problems with telling him the fact—the truth”.
The Senator revealed he faced backlash from unexpected quarters after his earlier comments about “reciprocating what the President did to us.” “Many people that I didn’t expect… shouted at me, saying ‘Why did you say that?’” he said. “But the President is my president, he is in my party, we are going to struggle it out together.”
While downplaying the opposition as “not new in the arena” — “Obi did it—tried it before. Atiku tried it before” — Ndume conceded the scale of the challenge. “It can be like the WWE… they get prepared and they want to take this thing… It’s going to be a tough fight, yeah, I agree with that”.
