Rights group, Social, Economic Rights & Accountability Project, (SERAP) has given INEC seven days to sanction politicians and parties engaging in early campaigns for the 2027 elections or face legal action.

In a letter signed by its Deputy Director, Kolawole Oluwadare, SERAP accused INEC of condoning illegality and warned that premature campaigns drain public resources, undermine governance, and erode electoral fairness.
The group urged INEC to withdraw illegal campaign materials and punish violators, stressing that failure to act would compromise electoral integrity.
