Kaduna State governor, Senator Uba Sani, has nominated the Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) Jerry Adams, as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election.
Announcing the decision yesterday, Governor Sani said the choice was the product of “wide consultations, deep reflection and earnest prayers,” and described it as a reaffirmation of his administration’s commitment to inclusion, justice and fairness.
“This decision is far greater than the selection of a deputy governorship candidate,” the Governor said in a statement. It is a reaffirmation of the values that have guided our administration since I took the oath of office on 29 May 2023: the values of inclusion, justice, fairness, equity and the unwavering conviction that every citizen of Kaduna State deserves a genuine sense of belonging”.
Sani noted that Kaduna’s diversity of faiths, ethnicities and cultures “is not a burden; it is our greatest strength,” adding that the state’s history taught difficult lessons about the cost of division and exclusion.
The Governor hailed Adams as “an accomplished public servant, an outstanding tax administrator and an institution builder” who transformed KADIRS into one of Nigeria’s most respected revenue agencies. “Through innovation, transparency and professionalism, he has helped strengthen our fiscal capacity, enabling government to invest even more in the education of our children, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture and other critical sectors”, Sani said.
He further described Adams as “a man of integrity, humility and quiet strength” with “an unwavering commitment to peace, reconciliation and inclusive governance”.
Since 2023, the Sani administration has pushed a “no community left behind” agenda across all 23 LGAs, with investments in roads, schools, hospitals, water, agriculture and social protection.
The Governor said dialogue with traditional rulers, religious leaders, women and youth groups had helped strengthen peace. “As security has improved, farmers have returned to their lands, businesses have expanded, investments have grown, and hope has steadily replaced fear in many communities”, he stated. He argued that lasting peace is built “not only by security measures but by fairness, inclusion and equal opportunity”.
Sani urged Kaduna residents to look beyond religion, ethnicity and geography ahead of 2027.
Jerry Adams, FCTI, FNIM, CNA, holds fellowships in taxation, management and national accounting. His nomination is expected to be ratified by the APC in the state ahead of party primaries.
