…Warns of anti-reform alliance
The Presidency has raised alarm over what it describes as a calculated plot by opponents of reform to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, made the claim in a post on X yesterday, alleging that “haters of Nigeria’s progress” are banding together to overthrow what he described as “the most focused and transformative administration in Nigeria’s history”.
Onanuga stated that Tinubu’s ongoing reforms, though challenging, are beginning to reshape the nation’s future for the better. He cited a 2022 warning by the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, who cautioned Nigerians not to expect an easy path from genuine economic reform.
Quoting Sanusi, Onanuga wrote: “Emir Sanusi warned Nigerians what to expect from President Tinubu’s reforms. ‘It’s not going to be easy.’ If anybody tells you it would be easy, don’t vote for him”.
His comments come amid the recent unveiling of an opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform, which has attracted prominent figures, including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party (LP)’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
The emergence of the coalition has already triggered a wave of high-profile defections, including from within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), heightening political tension ahead of the 2027 polls.
