The All-Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday disassociated itself from a splinter group, Team New Nigeria (TNN), following the groups placement of campaign posters for former President Goodluck Jonathan in Kano.

The posters, which featured slogans such as: Team New Nigeria 2027; The Goodluck Nigeria NeedsDr. Goodluck Jonathan, sparked discussions about Jonathans potential return to politics in 2027.
However, the APC clarified that neither the group nor its members had any ties to the party.
Recall that the TNN had recently declared plans to establish a new political party to rescue Nigeria from poverty, insecurity, and hunger, claiming to have mobilised over 26 million registered voters.
The groups national president, Modibbo Farakwai, announced plans to formalise their political registration with the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC).

The former president faced a similar situation before the 2023 elections, when his alleged supporters procured APC nomination forms for him, an action he denied authorising.
Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, a founding member of the Arewa Consultative Forum, commented: Jonathan did not have his second mandate, as he lost the race to former President Muhammadu Buhari. This is another opportunity for him to complete his tenure.
Deputy National Organising Secretary of APC, Nze Chidi Duru, also weighed in, dismissing the posters as an act by individuals outside the APC.
