Prospective pilgrims have been urged to expedite payments to secure essential arrangements for the exercise.

The Board’s Executive Chairman,  Faruku Enabo, disclosed this during an interview with newsmen yesterday,  after a meeting to discuss the refund process for pilgrims who participated in the 2023 Hajj.

Enabo explained that the deadline extension by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, (NAHCON), provides an opportunity for pilgrims to finalise their payments early, ensuring access to better accommodation, timely transportation, and other critical services.

The chairman also announced that NAHCON has refunded ?301.56 million to 4,936 Kebbi State pilgrims who participated in the 2023 Hajj. Each of the 4,936 pilgrims will receive ?61,080 as a refund for services not rendered during the 2023 Hajj. The funds have already been deposited into the Boards account and will be distributed to beneficiaries soon, he stated.

The State governor Nasir Idris, according to Enabo, has directed the Board to begin the refund process immediately. The exercise will involve the chairmen of Kebbis 21 local government areas as witnesses,  to ensure transparency.

The council chairmen have been tasked with monitoring the refund process to ensure every eligible pilgrim receives their dues.

Enabo added that security agencies would be involved to guarantee a seamless exercise. It is our duty to ensure all pilgrims receive their refunds promptly and without complications, he assured.

The Board encouraged prospective pilgrims to comply with the December payment deadline to avoid last-minute challenges and ensure a smooth Hajj experience in 2025.
