2023: Kwankwaso unveils blueprint for Northern development

The presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, will on Tuesday unveil his agenda for the development of Northern Nigeria, as part of the on-going campaign for the 2023 presidential contest.

Kwankwaso will be a guest at the Presidential Media Chat, organised by the Northern Broadcast Media Owners Association, (NBMOA).

Speaking in Abuja, the Chairman of the Association, Alhaji Abdullahi Yelwa, said the association has organised the media chat to offer presidential candidates the opportunity to explain their agenda, particularly for the North, as they canvass for their votes.

“The North is confronted by a myriad of existential challenges which have defied solutions. This time around, the Northern electorate wants tangible and well-thought-out answers to these challenges”, Yelwa pointed out.

“It is not enough for candidates to promise to end insecurity or drug abuse. We want to know how they plan to achieve it. We need concrete plans and verifiable timelines”, he argued.

The North, he explained, has been ruined by the scourge of terrorism and banditry, youth unemployment, drug abuse, the Almajiri and out-of-school children problem, the scourge of mass poverty and the plight of the Internally-Displaced Persons.

“We want to know what each candidate intends to do to address these challenges.

“As stakeholders, we will mobilise the North to partner with political leaders to evolve a people-oriented strategy for salvaging the North and the nation”, he revealed.

The media chat will be telecast live by Liberty TV, Trust TV and other broadcasting stations all across the region.

The Northern Broadcast Media Owners Association is the primary organisation for media owners and practitioners in the North. Its membership comprises over 100 radio and television stations in the North, with over 80 million listeners.

The association’s members broadcast its programmes in English and all the major languages spoken in the North, especially Hausa, Kanuri, Fulani, Yoruba, Tiv, Jukun, gala, pidgin, etc.
