The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, has urged Nigerians to banish religious or ethnic considerations in choosing the next Nigerian leader, urging them to vote for people with conscience and trust.

The presidential candidate stated this at the National Convention of the Assemblies of God Nigeria, at Okpoto, Ebonyi State, on Wednesday.
This is time to vote for a human being who has conscience and trust, Obi stressed.
Put all of us on a scale; lets know who we are; lets ask questions about who we are; lets verify who we are. Dont say: Because Peter Obi is from the South-East, I will vote for him. Do not vote for me because Im an Igbo man. Dont vote for anybody because he is from the West, or from the North, he said.
Obi, a former governor from the South-East geo-political zone, has been trying to rev up support for his relatively weak party. He is popular among youths, who see him as a refreshing departure from established politicians in the two main political parties, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The LP presidential candidate carries a toga of frugality in spending personal and state resources from his days as Anambra governor but critics say such a stance will not fly in the countrys electioneering process that has become heavily monetised.
