…Says they had chance to vote wisely

Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, says Nigerians deserve whatever they get from leaders at the helm of affairs whom they voted for during the election.
Amaechi, who stated this during a television programme at the weekend, said citizens should not complain, particularly about the state of the nation’s economy, because they had had the opportunity to vote right.
“Nigerians get what they want, what they deserve. You can’t complain. I think…(sic). Nigerians at all times had had opportunities to vote. Whatever you vote for is what you deserve”, he said at the weekend.
Although Amaechi, who also slugged it out in the presidential primary of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), did not mention specific names, Nigerians have lamented the harsh effects of President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies.
Since President Tinubu assumed office as Nigeria’s president, the country’s socio-economy continued to worsen, especially with the rise in foreign exchange rates, particularly the US dollars.
Commenting on the nation’s current economy under Tinubu, the former minister said Nigerians could seek greener pastures and explore opportunities abroad.
However, he explained that Nigeria has several opportunities if the youths who continue to leave the country are willing to tap into the resources around them.
The former governor said, “I have always discouraged those who want to leave the country, I say 9-5? Yes, you can always get 9-5 job when you leave the country, but you can never get the opportunity you get in Nigeria.
“You can just wake up one day and become a minister in Nigeria. You can just wake up one day, and you become a governor. It just happens; I don’t know how the country operates”.
He listed insecurity and lack of employment creation as factors driving citizens outside the country, adding that only the government can solve the challenges.
“So if you’re looking for opportunities, please stay in Nigeria”, Amaechi added.
