2023: APC Presidential Campaign Team sets to inaugurate women’s wing at Villa on Monday

Following the campaign windows opened by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recently, the Organising Committee of the Tinubu/Shettima Women Presidential Campaign Team has declared Monday, October 10, as the date for the formal inauguration of members of its various committees.

According to the campaign team, the event is expected to be held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on the said date.

Recall that Nigerias First Lady, Aisha Buhari, was last week announced as the Grand Patron of the Womens Wing of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Team. The wife of the presidential candidate and flagbearer of the APC, Oluremi Tinubu, a three-term senator representing Lagos-Central and former First Lady of Lagos State, and that of the vice-presidential candidate, former First Lady of Borno State, Nana Shettima, will serve as Chairman and Co-Chairman respectively.

The APCs womens campaign team is composed of over 1,200 women drawn from across the country, a development some say has drawn positive reactions nationwide. The Womens wing of the campaign train is expected to bolster the partys gender-sensitive credentials, especially as the APC is also the only major political party to have a female gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 election cycle.

The Presidential campaign team has also pledged to give the womens team a degree of autonomy to organise its own programmes with activities at the national, zonal and State levels.

Efforts are also reportedly on-going to rally the thousands of women-focused support groups affiliated with the APC for a nationwide mass mobilisation project.
