No fewer than 17 young men have been confirmed dead from a fatal motor accident along Kano-Zaria highway at the weekend.
According to sources, the persons lost their lives when they went to attend a wedding ceremony in honour of their friend in Zaria on Saturday and were on their way back to Kano when the accident happened.
Some of the victims, who were said to be siblings were travelling in a Kano Line bus and a RAV-4 car when the fatal accident occurred.
Residents of Sani Mainagge quarters, Gwale local government area of Kano metropolis where the victims hailed from, were turned into a state of mourning with the unfortunate incident.
Meanwhile, the State governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has expressed shock over the death of the victims.
He sympathised describing the incident as an act of Allah, alone. He said, Only Him can forgive them abundantly. We are therefore praying to Allah Almighty to grant them Jannatul Firdaus“.
The corpse of the victims have since been buried according to the Islamic rites and amidst tears by sympathisers.
