…Sowore insists Akeredolu is incapacitated, must resign
The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), in Ondo, has described the intervention of President Bola Tinubu in the feud between Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and his deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, as a “mere window dressing”.

Recall that on Friday, Tinubu called a meeting of the political actors in Ondo to resolve the political feud between Messrs Akeredolu and Aiyedatiwa. The President had asked the loyalists of the governor and his deputy to bury the hatchet in the interest of peace in the State.
In a statement issued yesterday, the PDP said Tinubu’s intervention might not see the light of the day, considering past intervention by the party’s leadership.
The opposition party, in the statement signed by its spokesman, Kennedy Peretei, said the crisis was not yet “Uhuru” in as much as Akeredolu is still incapacitated and refused to resume office.
“Let us pray that the presidential intervention will not go the way of the Bello Masari Reconciliation Committee, which was set up by the All-Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje. After several trips to Abuja at taxpayers’ expense, both parties returned to court despite promises to withdraw all cases.
“Again, major stakeholders in the APC, the leadership of the Ondo State House of Assembly and Ondo State government were at the Villa to iron-out their intractable differences.

The statement read in part: “From what we have read about the outcome, Tinubu’s intervention is a mere window-dressing. Out of respect for his office, the impeachment of the deputy governor will no longer see daylight, but as long as Akeredolu remains in hiding, it is not yet Uhuru; the cat and mouse race will still continue. The siege is not yet over”.
Tinubu had, during the meeting, asked the loyalists of the governor and his deputy to bury the hatchet in the interest of peace in the State.
The president also declared that the existing status quo in the state’s cabinet remained despite Akeredolu’s continued ill health.
Similarly, human rights activist and convener of #RevolutionNow, Omoyele Sowore, has also rejected the intervention of President Tinubu in the ongoing political crisis in Ondo State, saying it failed to provide concrete solutions.
Sowore, who said this in a post made via his X (formerly Twitter) platform yesterday, described, President Tinubu’s intervention as unacceptable and said it was high time for the state Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu to resign.
Meanwhile, in a press statement issued by Special Adviser to Tinubu, Ajuri Ngelale, the Presidency noted that President Tinubu had resolved the political crisis in the state – a claim which is far from the truth.
