Tinubu cancels colloquium in honour of Abuja-Kaduna train attack victims

National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has cancelled the 13th birthday colloquium in honour of victims of the Kaduna-Abuja train attacked by suspected terrorists on Monday evening.

Tinubu, who announced the cancellation a few minutes after the official kick-off of the event yesterday, said he cannot be celebrating and rejoicing amidst a national tragedy.

He added that the attack calls for a very serious sober reflection, and he cannot be dancing and celebrating after such a tragic event, before cancelling the event, which already attracted many important dignitaries.

According to the Asiwaju, For me to be here celebrating, dancing and enjoying myself doesnt show enough concern of a statesman and a senior citizen of this country.

This event should not be holding. I have consulted with the people you see around me here, and theyve agreed with me; and being a very highly committed democrat, I have given myself to their suggestion that they agreed that this event be cancelled.

Tinubu, alongside hundreds of others at the event, observed one-minute silence for the lives lost in the spirit of national tragedy and concern.

Dignitaries at the event include governors of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Kaduna State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje; Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola; APC Chieftain and former Ogun State governor, Segun Osoba; Lagos State deputy Governor, Femi Hamzat, among others.

It was reported that the train, which was said to have almost reached Rigasa, its final stop
was attacked by gunmen in the Kateri-Rijana area of Kaduna on Monday night.
