61 still in captivity Community representatives have reportedly sent food items to bandits who kidnapped 66 worshippers at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Kaduna State. Recall that the worshippers were kidnapped on October 31 at Kakau-Daji, in Chikun local government area of the State. ICC Prosecutor to probe abduction of school children in Northern States

The International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor, Karim A. Khan, has expressed its readiness to investigate kidnappings in northern Nigeria, closure of schools, and the persistent failure of the federal and State authorities to end such. The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, (SERAP), made this announcement yesterday. Kebbi school abduction: 4 months after, FGC, Yauri students released

Thirty students of the Federal Government College (FGC) Yauri, in Kebbi State, who were abducted four months ago by bandits have been released. The spokesperson to Kebbi State Governor, Yahaya Sarki, confirmed the release of the students in a statement issued yesterday, but said the bandits are still holding an undisclosed number of others. Recall that bandits abducted an undisclosed number of staff and students of the public secondary school in June. After over 100 days in captivity, abducted FGC Kebbi Birnin-Yauri students freed

The over 90 students and members of staff of Federal Government College, (FGC), Birnin-Yauri, in Kebbi State, have been released. They regained freedom after spending 118 days in captivity. A father of one of the kidnapped students, who did not want his name in print, confirmed that the students have been released. The parent, however, did not disclose whether parents of the abducted students have reunited with them. As of the time of this report, the state government and the police are yet to issue any statement over the development.

Bandits have released five more children from Bethel Baptist School, situated in Maraban Damishi, Chikun local government area of the State. Six out of 136 abducted students of Salihu Tanko Islamiyya, Tegina, in Niger State, have reportedly died in captivity.
