The Federal Government released just ₦2.68trillion, or about 4.9%, of the ₦54.93tr budgeted for road construction, rehabilitation and maintenance projects between 2023 and April 2026, according to data from the Open Treasury Portal. The figures show a widening gap between approved allocations and actual funding, despite increased budgetary provisions for infrastructure under President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Road projects received ₦631.5bn out of ₦2.53tn budgeted in 2023, representing a 24.9% implementation rate.
