Various women groups, yesterday, occupied the gate of the National Assembly in protest after both chambers rejected a Bill meant to create ‘special seats‘ for women. The women, who gathered early in the morning at the Three-Arms Zone, marched to the National Assembly gate chanting songs of solidarity. Hundreds of aggrieved Women in Tsafe local government area of Zamfara State have barricaded Zaria-Sokoto road to protest rampant banditry attacks and sexual assaults on women in the communities. The women stormed the highway and prevented motorists to and from Abuja, Kaduna, Kano, Zamfara, Sokoto and Kebbi states from plying the road.
