Ahmadu Bello University, (ABU)Zaria, is set to honour the President of the World Trade Organisation, (WTO), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Sharif al-Hussain with honorary degrees. According to a statement issued on Friday by the Public Affairs Directorate, Office of the ABU Vice-Chancellor, his decision followed the consideration and endorsement of the recommendation by the Honorary Degrees Committee at the University’s 544th (Special) Senate meeting held on Tuesday, 7 January 2025. WTO: Buhari reassures Okonjo-Iweala of support

President Muhammadu Buhari has reassured Nigerias former Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, of the countrys determination to ensure that she becomes the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO). Okonjo-Iweala and South Koreas Yoo Myung-hee advanced to the final round in the race to lead the Geneva-based trade body.
