The Federal Government has, again increased electricity tariffs, this time by about 50 percent, despite the severe blackouts and power outages in the country. Announcing the development in an order copied all the Power Distribution companies (Discos), the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) said it was embarking on the hike considering the changes in inflation rate, foreign exchange, generation capacity and gas prices, among others. Consumers to get refund for meter payment, says NERC

The Federal Government has said that electricity consumers who paid for meters under the Meter Asset Provider (MAP) scheme, will have a refund of their money. This disclosure was made by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), in an email statement, through its Head Public Affairs, Michael Faloseyi, on Wednesday. Targets 30 million consumers Payment of new electricity tariffs resumes next week The Federal Government has commenced nationwide distribution of free electricity meters, under the National Mass Metering Programme (NMMP) to Nigerians. FG extends suspension of electricity tariffs by another one week

The Federal Government has extended suspension of electricity tariffs by another one week. The decision was taken on Sunday in Abuja at the resumed negotiation between the Federal Government and Labour. The negotiation committee is scheduled to meet over the next 60-90 days to resolve other outstanding issues. NERC orders DisCos to suspend new electricity tariffs for two weeks

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has ordered distribution companies to suspend the implementation of the new tariffs which was introduced on the 1st of September. This means for the next two weeks, Nigerians will be paying the exact tariff they paid for electricity about four weeks ago.
