The Police Command in Cross-River state has confirmed the abduction of 17 passengers by sea pirates along the Calabar Waterways. The command’s Deputy Public Relations Officer, DSP Igri Ewa, who made the confirmation yesterday in Calabar, said that the passengers were abducted on Thursday. Ewa said that the command had already swung into action to ensure the ‘immediate and prompt’ rescue of the abductees. Abuja Court sacks 20 Cross River lawmakers for defecting to APC

A Federal High Court in Abuja, yesterday, sacked 20 members of the Cross River State House of Assembly who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), to the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC). The court, in a judgment delivered by Justice Taiwo Taiwo, held that the lawmakers, having abandoned the political party that sponsored them to power, ought to vacate their seats. An Assistant Commissioner of Police and Commanding Officer of No.73 Police Mobile Force Squadron, Magumeri in Borno State, Egbe Eko Edum, who went back home to Cross Rivers State to visit his family was axed to death in Calabar after his car reportedly broke down.
