Court orders final forfeiture of Diezani’s Abuja homes, cars

Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon, of the Federal High Court, Abuja, yesterday ordered the final forfeiture of two Abuja properties and two luxury cars belonging to a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, to the Federal Government. The two properties are located at Plot 1854, Mohammed Mahashir Street, and No. 6, Aso Drive, in the highbrow Asokoro and Maitama Districts of Abuja and are valued at $2,674,418 and N380 million respectively. The Federal High Court, sitting in Yola, has cancelled the governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State. The court, which gave its ruling yesterday, held that the APC flouted its rules and provisions of the Electoral Act in the conduct of the Adamawa governorship primary on May 27 and 28 and therefore, the party does not have a governorship candidate for the 2023 general election. A Federal High Court sitting in Dutse, Jigawa State has discharged and acquitted Sen. Ibrahim Saminu Turaki of the N8.3 billion corruption charges preferred against him by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC). Recall that Turaki and three other companies had been standing trial since May 4, 2007, in a suit filed by the EFCC on 33 counts. There was pandemonium in Kaduna at the weekend, as policemen dispersed traders who trooped the streets while jubilating a court order against the State Governor, Nasir el-Rufa’i, to pay compensation for demolishing shops and markets in the city.
