A civil society advocate, Jacob Choji Pwakim, has condemned the Plateau State government for allegedly  approving a whopping sum of ₦7.84 billion to sponsor 1,100 Christian pilgrims for the 2026 pilgrimage to Jerusalem. Kaduna: Gov. restores Christian pilgrimage after 11yrs

Kaduna state has resumed its Christian pilgrimage programme after an 11-year hiatus, with 50 intending pilgrims preparing to embark on the journey under government sponsorship. The revival, announced during the 2025 orientation programme, has been welcomed by Christian faithful, who described it as a “strong statement of fairness, equity, and inclusive governance”. The Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission, (NCPC), will on December 22 airlift 10,000 Christians who registered for this years holy pilgrimage to Jordan. The NCPCs Executive Secretary, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, who disclosed this at the weekend, said each of the intending pilgrims paid N3m, amounting to N30bn by the Nigerian contingent.
