Alhaji Dauda Umar, the father of Alhaji Suleiman Umar, Nigerian Ambassador to Austria, has died at the age of 83, after a brief illness. Until his death, the late Umar was a seasoned Accountant and Administrator, who worked in various local government councils of Kaduna State. Doctor fined for amputating wrong leg of patient

A surgeon in Austria has been fined after amputating the wrong leg of a patient earlier this year, AFP news agency reports. The elderly patient’s right leg was removed instead of his left, with the mistake only discovered two days later. On Wednesday, the court in Linz found the 43-year-old guilty of gross negligence and fined her 2,700 (2,296), equivalent to N1,254,555.
